1. Tennis Coaching program :
Summer tennis coaching classes for children and adults (ladies/gents), both for primary and advance levels, are in progress at Islamabad Club’s Coaching Center under the direct supervision of Mr. Mahboob Khan, a Certified Tennis Teacher, Coach, and Tennis Developer of International stature. Minimum age required for registration is 9 years. Modern, state of the art standard method of tennis teaching is employed. In order to re-enforce learning, hitting sequencings and stroke’s diagrams of the top ATP and WTA players are shown.
Dates and timings will be announced once the registration and grouping processes are completed.

New Reciprocal Arrangement with Karachi
Boat Club:
Club has entered into
a reciprocal arrangement with Karachi
boat club. Members of both clubs can
avail facilities for maximum of 30 days
for each visit and a maximum of three
visits in a calendar year. Members are
expected to clear their bills in cash
before leaving Karachi/Islamabad. Here

New Reciprocal Arrangement with Princeton
Club of New York:
Islamabad Club has
entered into a reciprocal arrangement
with Princeton club of New York. Members
of both clubs can avail facilities for
maximum of 30 days in a calendar year.
Members are expected to clear their
bills in cash before leaving New York / Islamabad.

New Reciprocal Arrangement with The Royal Automobile Club, London:
Islamabad Club has
entered into a reciprocal arrangement
with Royal Automobile club of London. Members
of both clubs can avail facilities for
maximum of 90 days in a calendar year.
Members are expected to clear their
bills in cash before leaving London / Islamabad.
Following are the rules agreed upon between two clubs:
Card of Introduction:
The card of introduction is to be valid
for a specific number of days. Such
cards should be issued only to members
in good standing at the date of issuance.
Reciprocal
Privileges:
All privileges granted by either Club
are subject to the rules and regulations
of the Host Club.
Bedroom Reservations:
All reservations are to be confirmed
in writing and are subject to the rules
in force at the time of booking. Members
may book accommodation for their guests
at Host Club.
Payment of
Accounts:
Account must be settled by guest on
departure, and paid by either cash or
any major credit card that is accepted
by Host Club.
Guarantee of
Accounts:
The Host Club is responsible for ensuring
payment is received from the guest on
departure.
Guest of reciprocal
members:
Reciprocal members may include guest
when utilizing the facilities of Host
Club. Guest must be accompanied by
the reciprocal member. 5.
Revised Dining Guest Charges:
Dining guest charges have been revised with effect
from July 20, 2010 as follows:
A la Carte Rs.50/- per head
Buffet Rs.100/- per head
Saturday Night Bar B Que Rs.150/- per head
Sunday Brunch Rs.125/- per head
Above charges are exclusive of sales tax.
6. Bridge Workshop
Islamabad Club in collaboration with the Bridge
Sub-Committee is organizing a Bridge Workshop
for the Bridge playing members. Main features of
the program are as under:

Timing: 11:00am – 1:00pm (Every Saturday &
Sunday)

7. Special Movie
Join us for an exclusive screening of Mian Adnan
Ahmad's award winning short film, HEAL, which
was nominated in five categories at the annual
CECIL Awards ceremony held in the U.S, winning in
four, including 'Best Picture'. HEAL was also one of
only six films selected for an exclusive screening as
part of First Cut Showcase being held at the
Directors Guild of America (DGA) headquarters in
Los Angeles and is an official selection at this year's
Cleveland International Film Festival.
Mian Adnan Ahmad, son of our senior member
Mian Javaid Ahmad Kakakhel (983-NS) is a
Pakistani filmmaker who is a recipient of the
Fulbright Scholarship and Leo Freedman Award.
The short film will be shown just before the
screening of our regular movies on Sunday July 25,
August 1 and August 8, 2010 at 9:00pm.
8. Prohibition of Smoking and Protection of Non Smoker's Health Ordinance:
Section 5 of the law and S.R.O 51 (KE) / 2009 has
now disallowed “Designated Smoking Areas” in all
places of public work or use. “Smoking
Sections/Rooms/Zones” in all places of public work
or use, including hotels, restaurant and cafeterias,
are now illegal. However, smokers may smoke
outdoors, in open spaces. Therefore, smoking in all
enclosed spaces of Islamabad Club, like offices,
lobbies, lounges, restaurants, card-rooms, etc. is a
violation of the law.
It is therefore; notified that members may please
observe the law in letter and spirit.
9. Swimming Gala:
Islamabad Club in collaboration with the Swimming
Pool Sub-Committee is organizing a Swimming
Gala on 7 and 8 of August 2010. For further
details, please see the Club notice boards.
Coaching facility for members and their children are
also available at our pools. Members may contact
the pool reception for details.
10. Showing of Membership Cards:
The prevailing security situation in the country has forced the club to take stringent security measures for the safety of the members. Whereas it is the responsibility of the management to ensure proper security through these measures it is at the same time expected of members to cooperate with the management for strict implementation of the rule in this regard. Security has been beefed up at the main entrance and instructions have been passed on to check the membership cards without any letup. Members found hesitant/ resistant will be referred to the proper forum. Members inviting Non-Members will inform the club reception (051-9046000) well in advance for ensuring the guest’s entry without hurdle. Members sharing the same table with another member/members are necessarily required to produce their own E-Card to help facilitate our billing system in relation to number of guests present on the table. We are confident that all members would appreciate the steps being taken regarding security and guest identification to ensure maximum subsidized services to members only are in their best interest.

Tombola:
The Club will continue to hold two weekly events every Monday and Thursday at 6:00pm at Multipurpose Hall.
The Tombola Sub-Committee is also holding a monthly event known as “Monthly Super Tombola” on the first Monday of each month at Multipurpose Hall, a family event ensuring fun and flair for our members and their family.

13. Squash Tournament/ Generous Grant by Federal Minister for Privatization:
A Squash Tournament was held at Islamabad Club
from June 22 – June 26, 2010; around forty players
took part in the tournament. Finals were played on
June 26, 2010. 'Plate category Final' was played
between Mr. Nasrullah and Mr. Ahmad Naqvi. Mr.
Nasrullah was the winner of the final. Main event
final was played between Mr. Ibrahim and Mr.
Shaqeeq. After a tough competition Mr. Ibrahim
won the Championship.
The event was a great success due to the hectic
efforts of Mr. M.Saleem Sethi, Convenor Squash
Sub-Committee. Senator Waqar Ahmad Khan,
Federal Minister for Privatization graced the
occasion and graciously announced an amount of
Rs.100,000 for the improvements of the Squash
Courts.
14. Construction of the Badminton
Courts and New Gymnasium:
Contract for the construction of the Badminton
Courts and New Gymnasium with a provision of a
Table Tennis Room has been awarded. The project
is scheduled for completion by April 2012. |
